Honest Preply German review from users and tutors
In this post, you may read more about Preply, a platform that enables you to choose a teacher for German online education.
We will talk about Preply’s German tutors and the fee the website charges.
We’ll give you a collection of reviews submitted by Preply users and our own opinion.
Finally, we’ll inform you of an excellent extra strategy for learning German.
Let’s move forward!
On Preply, a platform for language learning, you can pick an instructor for German online classes.
By defining the price range per hour, the tutor’s nation, and availability, you can find a tutor who offers sessions that fit your schedule.
You can also search by person or keyword, select the subject areas and languages, etc.
The selections can be sorted by highest rating, level of popularity, cost, and relevance. For the majority of lessons, Skype is used.
It is, therefore, both simple and personalized.
Every tutor has a profile and charges differently for each lesson.
In their profiles, you may find the following details:
- if it’s a top teacher
- reviews and stars
- number of active students
- number of lessons taught
- a short description
Students pay the price they decide on based on their choices. Preply charges teachers a commission fee for each new student equal to 100% of the first lesson payment.
Depending on how many hours of instruction have been spent with pupils, the commission ranges from 33 to 18% for each lesson.
The fewer students that tutor through Preply tutor, the less commission they receive. It’s not the most equitable application because of the large commission.
Preply users’ reviews
I am giving 1 star because giving 0 star is not an option! When I had a problem, 5-6 different people from customer service wrote me for 10 days but they couldnt solve my problem. What a waste of time! They only sent pre-scripted texts.
If you find an alternative app, go for it! If you use Preply, dont buy too much credits, their system doesnt work properly and their customer service works horribly.
P.S. If you want to experience bad customer service, let Octavio from Preply handle your issue.
– Can Cevik
The site is one of the worst-designed sites out there for multi-million dollar companies, and the customer service alternates between non-existent and incompetent. The tutors are fine–often quite good–but the company is terrible.
– Galen Four
The problem with this site is that Preply makes no real effort to verify the teachers’ credentials or even the teacher’s actual level of the languages he or she is teaching. As a result, there are literally hundreds of English teachers working for them who claim to be native speakers- and who are clearly not. Preply takes a cut from what students pay these teachers that is double what any other tutoring company does, and therefore need to be accountable for the quality of teaching and honesty of the instruction offered.

Our Preply review
Preply is a fantastic tool for helping students identify instructors who are both inexpensive and capable of high-quality education. It is a safe and adaptable application.
Unlike Italki and Verbling, the selection is much wider and is not limited to learning foreign languages.
But due to their outrageously high commissions from teachers, we don’t suggest it.
