Find a legitimate Language Transfer alternative to help you learn Spanish more gradually and increase your proficiency level.
Language Transfer Spanish
Language Transfer is a popular platform for beginning Spanish students who want to learn the fundamentals of the language. However, when it comes to advanced learning, has some limitations.
Language Transfer is a website that provides audio lessons in several languages. Mihalis Eleftheriou, a language enthusiast, designed it. All of the courses are run by Eleftherios himself and are based on audio lessons with the speaker and a volunteer student.
Language Transfer courses use what Eleftheriou refers to as the “thinking method”: you are asked a question and given time to consider an answer. For example, the speaker may inquire about how to pronounce a Spanish word. After a brief pause, the student responds. Meanwhile, you have time to consider your response.
This method, according to Eleftheriou, is far more effective than passive memorization: by actively thinking, you are supposed to learn more easily and quickly than by simply memorizing.
What is the problem with Language Transfer?
The method used by Language Transfer does not include exercises, grammar notes, written lessons, or transcripts. One of the program’s most significant limitations is that it only uses audio lessons.
Furthermore, the lessons are not taught by native Spanish speakers, making it difficult to learn the correct pronunciation and accent. The Language Transfer Spanish course is primarily for beginners and is not linear, making it difficult to track your progress.
Memrise: A Language Transfer alternative
Memrise is a valid alternative to Language Transfer if you want to learn Spanish in a more linear and advanced way.
Memrise is a one-of-a-kind language learning app. Its sole purpose, unlike other apps, is to assist you in memorizing Spanish words (hence the name).
The app contains several courses, each with numerous lessons. For example, there are “Learn Basic Mexican Spanish,” “Advanced Spanish,” “Spanish Vocabulary by Frequency” (4,650 words), “250 Most Commonly Used Spanish Words,” and a slew of others for Spanish.
Each course includes one lesson that teaches you anywhere from 10 to 50 words, and each word includes audio, an English translation, and, very often, a video of a native person saying the word or phrase.
You learn the words by repeating them and using them in various exercises such as translation, selecting the correct answer, and flashcards.
