What is Language Transfer?

what is language transfer

Language Transfer aims to help you think and understand languages via audio recordings that logically discuss the finer points of your chosen language. In the second Spanish audio track, for example, you’ll learn what the similarities are between English and Spanish.

This is made simpler as there is a student following the lesson and learning with you who contributes to the lesson. All of the courses are aimed at beginners and the idea is to give you the basics of the language, stimulate your interest in it and get you to engage with the material so that you have all the necessary skills needed to continue learning whichever language you’ve chosen.

I decided to try out Swahili (which I speak) and Greek (which I don’t) to see what the audio lessons are like. I found them to be very useful and I genuinely think you will come away with everything you need to continue your language learning on your own.

The Swahili course, for instance, was very well done, and at the end, you come away having learned lots of complex grammar in an easy and non-intimidating way. Just one guy, Mihalis, creates all of the content and I was very impressed at the quality and the in-depth look he offers at the various languages on the site.

Babbel: A Language Transfer alternative

babbel a language transfer alternative

Babbel is a competitively priced platform that offers video and audio-based language instruction in 14 different languages. You have the option of subscribing to a basic digital curriculum or purchasing a Babbel Live subscription for unlimited access to live, instructor-led classes. The learning approach is modified based on your level of skill and your ability to commit to daily learning.

Babbel is slightly more expensive than Rosetta Stone, a competing app, with a similar product offering, although both apps have affordable prices. Babbel could be more expensive if you’re studying several languages because you need a separate subscription for each extra language.
