Frenchpod101 offers three subscription packages to choose from Basic, Premium, and Premium Plus. Learn the FrenchPod101 alternative that might help you.
FrenchPod101
Frenchpod101 offers three subscription packages to choose from Basic, Premium, and Premium Plus. These packs all have the same basic content. However, as you pay more for the progressive packs, you will receive more and more bonus features to assist you in learning.
The site provides training at four different difficulty levels: Absolute Beginner, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each of these levels now has sub-modules known as “Pathways” from which to choose.
At each level, approximately eight to twenty different pathways are depending on the difficulty. These routes are then subdivided into lessons.
Again, depending on the pathway you select, there will be anywhere from 5 to 200 lessons teaching you various aspects of that pathway. The following elements are then included in each lesson: video clips, audio clips, audio transcripts, lesson notes, vocabulary, and comments.
How Much Does FrenchPod101 Cost?
I should mention right away that there are three types of memberships available: Basic, Premium, and Premium Plus. I’ve listed them below, but please keep in mind that prices are always subject to change, so the tiers may differ when you visit the program.
- The Basic plan costs $8 per month for a two-year membership and includes audio access, access to multiple devices (iPhone, iPad, Android, etc.), printable lesson notes, and lesson downloads.
- The Premium plan costs $25 per month for a two-year membership and includes everything in the Basic plan as well as line-by-line audio transcripts, bonus lessons, interactive quizzes, flashcards, and other features.
- The Premium Plus plan costs $47/month with a two-year membership and includes all of these features as well as the option of 1-on-1 instruction.
FrenchPod101 Alternative
Rocket French‘s lesson format is similar to that of FrenchPod101. You listen to an audio track that discusses various grammar and vocabulary topics. However, Rocket French includes additional practice exercises that correspond to each lesson.
Rocket Languages is slightly more expensive, but this is because you must pay by the level rather than the month. However, if you want to learn French quickly, I believe Rocket French is the better option.
More information can be found in this Rocket French review. The teaching styles of FrenchPod101 and Babbel are similar.
They use a conversation between two native speakers to highlight various vocabulary and grammar topics. Babbel’s lessons, on the other hand, are shorter and cover less information per lesson.
Lessons on FrenchPod101 also have more audio, so you hear a lot more speaking. FrenchPod101 may be less expensive or more expensive than Babbel depending on your subscription. However, in terms of effectiveness, they are roughly equal. More information can be found in this Babbel review.
