How does LanguaTalk work?
Before choosing a tutor, you must decide on your fluency levels, goals, and spending limit. Then a collection of videos and biographies from tutors who might be a good fit for your learning needs will be presented to you. Sessions are held as video calls on either Zoom or Skype for 55 minutes.
New clients can schedule a 30-minute training session with their preferred tutor. If you’ve already had a lesson with a tutor, you can schedule another one through your account’s My Tutors section. When you choose the “Book Lessons” option, a link to the tutor’s calendar will appear so you can confirm their availability.
In addition, you can schedule a lesson with a fresh tutor by visiting their profile on the LanguaTalk website. You can reschedule or cancel the class through your account once you’ve made your reservation, though you will be charged for the session if you don’t give at least 24 hours notice of cancellation.
Note that you cannot transfer already-made reservations to another tutor. Although the company doesn’t currently have an app available, we were very impressed by how simple it was to use and how quickly we were able to filter tutors to find a teacher who would work well with our students.
One useful feature can help prevent confusion when scheduling a lesson by automatically displaying your tutor’s availability in your time zone on the website. You can sync your Google Calendar with LanguaTalk to avoid missing a session.
Is LanguaTalk reliable and safe?
Since LanguaTalk was only established in 2021, it is still very new to the market and does not yet have a TrustPilot or Better Business Bureau profile. Information on its website does, however, suggest that it is reliable. For instance, to guarantee high-quality instruction, LanguaTalk will only accept about 10% of applications from potential tutors.
Furthermore, each tutor must be a native speaker of the language being taught and have some prior experience instructing foreign languages. Additionally, the fact that Stripe processes all payments made to the business gave us comfort and should give you additional assurance regarding the security of your transactions.
